Casting to Apple TV

Apple TV is the gold standard. AirPlay 2 works out of the box on every generation.

Setup

None. Tap your Apple TV in Air Cast and tap Mirror or pick media to cast. iOS will show the system "Start Recording" prompt — tap Start Recording and your screen appears on the TV.

Lower latency for gaming

Settings → Quality → set to "Low Latency". Reduces delay at the cost of slightly lower resolution.
