Why iOS asks to record my screen
Apple requires consent before any app captures the screen.
Every time you start mirroring, iOS shows a system dialog: "Air Cast would like to record your screen." This is mandatory and there's no way for any app to bypass it — Apple does not expose a public API that captures the screen without consent.
What we capture
- Video frames from your screen, encoded into HLS, sent over your local WiFi to the TV
- Audio from your apps (system audio is included automatically when you tap "Microphone Off"; tap "Microphone On" to also include your voice)
What we don't do
- Save the recording to disk
- Send the recording to our servers
- Capture inputs (taps, passwords, keyboard)
You can stop at any time by tapping the red status bar at the top of the screen, or by closing Air Cast.
