What to do if your TV isn't found
TVs not appearing in Air Cast? Run through this checklist.
If your TV doesn't appear in Air Cast, the cause is almost always one of three things — work through them in order:
1. Same WiFi network?
Casting only works when both devices are on the same network. Check:
- Are you on the guest network on either device?
- Some routers split 2.4GHz and 5GHz into different networks. Try connecting the iPhone to the same band the TV is on.
- Mesh systems sometimes isolate devices on different nodes. Try restarting the mesh's main hub.
2. Local network permission
iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time you open Air Cast. If you tapped "Don't Allow", Air Cast can't scan for TVs.
Fix: iOS Settings → Air Cast → toggle Local Network ON, then reopen Air Cast.
3. AP isolation / Client isolation
Some hotel, office and school networks block devices from talking to each other. There's nothing the app can do here — you need a network where peer-to-peer is allowed (typically a home WiFi).
4. TV's network features off
- Samsung: Settings → General → Network → Expert Settings → IP Remote ON; check that AirPlay is enabled in the Apple AirPlay Settings menu.
- LG: Settings → Connection → Mobile TV On → Turn On Via WiFi ON.
- Roku: Settings → System → Advanced → Network access = Default; AirPlay & HomeKit ON.
